Hope you're all having a nice long weekend start to the long awaited holidays. These few days have been quite busy for me, thank goodness. I love being busy doing stuff I like. Today was a fun-filled day because I spent the majority of it at Richard's. And I sort of learnt how to make a mandarin cheesecake from Richard's neighbour.
[background: Grubsy is actually a LONG LONG LONG time friend of mine. I knew him way back when we were toddlers (I think) at Ardil's childcare :D But he's like a model-student/aces everything etc, so there isn't much dirt I can dig up on him unfortunately XD]
ANYWAY. My morning began early at 8am. I was getting ready for my big day but my dad decided to sleep in and told me not to wake him =_=; So I arrived there at around 10.30 :( completely missing the first few CRUCIAL steps to making a cheesecake). Luckily I know how to make a cheesecake already so I didn't miss out on too much I guess. I didn't get to take any photos because I left my bag at his place and I didn't want to duck out just to fetch it. So yeah.
We watched a couple of eps of 2 and a half men before we started watching pineapple express, and then people started arriving for the bbq. :) Guests included his family (ROSE!ROSE! his cousin whom I also knew when we were toddlers) and family friends and neighbour's son- Andrew who is absolutely hilarious :D
AND THERE WAS FOOD. steak. I had one. And then I had a lamb cutlet. mmm. and I had a couple of gherkins (♥♥♥ Can't get enough of it ♥♥♥) AND OH MY GOSH. The baby/toddler there called WAYNE is a halfie and he's so cute :D He has REALLY soft locks of springy brown curls on his head :D:D way cool and he just pigged out on those asian soft candies all the time. So cute. Didn't snap a photo of him because he's too cute and if my nieces/nephews saw a photo of him here, they would get jealous D:
Alot of small talk at the table before the youth decided to dive back into the house and just talk. Rose was doing math (H) and didn't believe me when I said I study 2u math XD she just laughed. haha. Yeaaah. It was quite an awkward turtle moment. (speaking of awkward turtle, I DID THAT A COUPLE OF TIMES AT THE PREFECT ARVO TEA BUT NO ONE GOT IT?!) Yeaah. Fun times.
His walls are the same colour has my parent's bedroom walls at my old place.
MY GOODNESS> THIS DEFLATED HIPPO is apparently his "treasured" belonging ==; its freaking.. half full of beads. Apparently its supposed to be "beautiful and plump" but he chucked it into the washing machine. haaa. It's important to read the washing instructions
:D
Miss math (sitting at the computer. its our forum :D:D)
Afterwards, my dad took me home and my mum was watching SMILING PASTA- the Taiwanese drama. FREAKING RIP OFF FULLHOUSE. HAA. It's so gay. The lead girl is ==; not as pretty as lead girls usually are and one of the main guys look slightly retarded and ALL OF THE MEN IN THIS DRAMA DO NOT ACT MANLY OR LOOK MANLY. FAR OUT. Their perception of manly is gangster ish? It's quite offputting to watch and I don't know how my mum endures hours of this rubbAsh. All their men are like women. EVERY guy has hair like krissybubbles. Im not saying his hair is gay. lol. it's just EVERYONE D: EVERYONE (kind of like how when we were in Hyde Park, all these uni students walked past. All the males were in a hideous dressing attire consisting of freaking skinny jeans WOMANLY SCARVES, boots? seriously. D: D: D: I CAN'T ACCEPT THIS. SEEING THESE PEOPLE DRIVE ME NUTS. It wasn't just 1 or 2. There were TONNES. D: D: ) Enough about retarded Taiwanese dramas. D: D: D:
Dad took mum and I out to Edward's place and we just had a *har mm cha charn* because I wasn't feeling full after Richards :D (I am a bottomless pit). Then my dad bought me some pocky YAY (DID YOU KNOW, Jusco no longer sells Thai POCKY. teehee.) and we went to pick Kelly up from a friends place. (OKAY I'M MISSING LAW AND ORDER RIGHT NOW, but I have to rant about this. My sister currently has on purple nail varnish. It's not a nice purple either. Ever since she started hanging with this crowd, she's come home with fluro green nails, black nails, FREAKING NEON COLOURED NAILS and now ugly purple. I sit across her at dinner and all these bright colours flashing across my eyes push me into fits of epileptic seizures. Seriously, it's disastrous and disgusting and I hate it. I have to say. Purple is already better than that neon green she had. At dinner, it just looked like there were floating green m&ms around. BARLJSDFLSKJ I hate nail polish. I HATE IT. And now she puts it on just to piss me off. She does alot of things to deliberately piss me off. D: D: D: BECAUSE SHE HAS REACHED HER RIDICULOUS STAGE. Allow me to digress from polish to shoes. A while back, I purchased 2 pairs of shoes from Rubi. She asked me if she could borrow a pair once, and since them they became "hers" D: I didn't find that a problem until she didn't let me wear them. SDLKFJ:SLDKFJ BAH. SIBLING RIVALRY? No we just have a case of freaking fat greedy people now. I'm such a bitch. But it feels so good HAHA. XD)
LAW AND ORDER CALLS.
My mum and I are going on a " just the two of us " dates tomorrow to the city. Hopefully she'll let me have the 32 cm icecream at the korean convenience store. I'll make my mum take photos of me guzzling that all down :D I love icecream.
ENJOY THE HOLIDAYS ALL
My mirror reflects the stuff on my door. I just found this photo quite chaotic.

recipe + bio fun
KERBAM: I baked today.
this plate is like 2-3 times larger than my imaginary head (WHICH IS PRETTY BIG) and it's been piled high with cookies. I ate so many today.
*sigh* to get this lovely shot at the cookies, I had to take 5 pictures because I was aiming in the dark (mum's in tv room so i didnt want to let her know i was still awake). Righteo.
The recipe for this is currently in the kitchen, but I can remember it. :D
you will need:
- 150g softened butter
- 1/2 cup caster sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp of vanilla essence (VERY IMPORTANT)
- 1 large egg
- 1 & 3/4 cups plain flour
- 1/2 cup milk choc chip*
- 1/2 cup dark choc chip*
* These can be easily replaced with nuts/sultanas etc. I experimented. almonds and chocolate works so well. mm. sultanas too!
METHOD:
- Cream the softened butter, meaning it goes a paler colour and is stiff-ish but not because it's cold but because it's been beaten.
- Add in the caster sugar and brown sugar gradually while mixing.
- Add the vanilla essence and keep beating
- Toss in the egg and beat for another 1-2 mins. The egg makes everything a bit stickier and have a smoother consistency, but it's also quite stiff (at least it should be :P)
- Put your beater/electric mixer away because for the next step you do not want to use it at all.
- get a spatula or some kind of nice stirring utensil and stir in the plain flour. BUT DONT STIR IT IN TOO MUCH, because it will become goey and gross. I use a choppy motion with my silicon spatula to mix my dry and wets together :D
- When it's all mixed nicely, toss in your nuts/chocolate bits and stir some more
- Roll into little balls (size? however big you want them to be. Take into consideration that they will expand in the oven.
- When they all look like balls, dip a fork into some plain flour (to make it not stick to your cookie balls) and push down the ball slightly so you flatten the top. I make criss cross patterns on the top and it doesnt show in the final cookie. Do that for all of them
- PUT INTO OVEN AT 180deg C BUT IF YOU HAVE A FANFORCED OVEN set the temperature to 160deg C. :D Leave them there unattended for 15 mins. After that time period, go back to check very often. If they've started to brown at the edge, you can take them out (when I say brown, I mean light brown not charred. lol).
The cookies are soft in the middle. yumyum
BTW BRANDS in flour do make a difference. I've been using home brand (because man.. i've been using their plain flour for ages) HOWEVEr I tried a different brand recently and I realised how different the results are! Homebrand plain flour absorbs up oil faster and I don't think it's that great anymore :O:O:O
ANYWAY we have more pipecleaner fun in bio today XD

8) Baking at Cheryl's
Woke up earlyish this morning to get ready for a trip to Cheryl's. I had to rummage around in the kitchen for AGES looking for the vanilla extract. When I finally gathered everything, I had a hearty breakfast, consisting of :
- scrambled eggs
- bacon
- french toast
- orange and passionfruit juice
- more toast because I was hungry
Had lunch- squid + vermicelli and greens and headed off to Cheryl's.
SHE HAS A PROPER ONE. Mine looks weird. It's like a revolving whisk. But hers is TWO revolving whisks which does everything in half the time.
We made wonderful HOME MADE CHOC CHIP COOKIES (FROM SCRATCH. NO COOKIE MIX) like I always do :)
WII. Okay lost motivation to blog. ==; I feel quite sleepy.
Have a good week y'all. I've had an exciting few days (actionpacked) and I'm hoping for a relaxing 4 day week :) (but i doubt. HYDEPARK ON WEDNESDAY!)
RECIPE may be posted later if anyone expresses interest. :) It's simple and absolutely scrumptious.

Mum's leaving tomorrow :( Dad's on the phone atm trying to defer her flight back to Syd, so she can spend more than 5 nights in HK (= more shopping!
BUT YAY. Ls!

They're called RAMEKINS
Right, so yeah- the bowl-ish things I posted up on my last entry are called ramekins. I found out from this-click-me-site. Man, I love that dude. Chef John M...something. I forgot his last name; it has a c and and s and a z. He has videos showing you how to make certain types of food.. yeah it's brilliant. I will try some of his recipes one day. I felt so hungry watching him make food last night !
So, DILEMMA. I WOKE UP AT 12.22pm TODAY! *shock horror*. If I don't arrive at school tomorrow, it means I'm still in bed and I have slept through all of my alarm clocks. This is depressing, I broke my wake-early streak. PLUS! There might be morning class for eng ext tomorrow. *double sigh*.
Hah, I lost my net connection. Whats up TPG? Stop d/c-ing me. AAAND it's back. Welcome back cyberspace! I'm very dependant on the internet. Quite sad I know. Last night, my browsers didn't work, they said I didn't have a DNS (domain n?s? no idea) but I was still on MSN? I still use I.E. My dad believes Firefox is some huge virus scam. =_=;
So since I've been awake, I've been doing maths. Last night I was doing Jap up till 2am. Reading ahead with chem up until 3.30am, and then yeaah. Took a few mini breaks in between. Burnt the Pretty Woman OST on a CD so my dad can play it in the car. haha. I love oldie songs. Later I will burn the Who We Are Lifehouse album onto CD so I can play it in the car.
My dad said something about going to Melbourne for the Christmas holidays. I know I should be studying 'n all, but a break will do me good! If we decide to go, we'll be driving down there ! YAY. Ah, I just remembered I'll be going to Annual this year... and it's in Victoria. I wish we could spend a whole day (and night!) in Melbourne with FRIENDS. I rarely go anywhere with my friends. Dootdidootdoot. How fun would it be to go overseas with friends. :
That would be brilliant. i highly doubt my parents would let me go.
That's all I have to report for now! Check out Chef John's blog. ITS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. BUT IT IS TRUE. Seriously, one day, I will MAKE that molten chocolate lava cake. yummmyy

Chocolate molten lava fondant cake
Yum.

Nothing much to talk about today. Alarm went off at 9.30am today, but I rolled out of bed at 12.13pm. Bah humbug. Parents were watching Revolving Doors of Vengence (still are actually) in Mandarin !! I've just been revising my Jap (getting ready for the ext course) and watching vids from the ClickNetwork (another source of Sg entertainment).
Strangely enough, I went to bed before 12pm last night. So I got over 12 hrs of sleep.

Officially Year 12 in 2 days. I'm dreading this.
