Despite having a fun night out (not to mention very wet and rainy), I couldn't get to sleep properly last night... In the recent month, I've been experiencing what I think are severe sleeping problems. My dad's been telling me to exercise more so I can feel more tired, hence have a good night's sleep, but I've been trying it and it doesn't work. Even when I'm dead exhausted, I can lay awake until 3 or 4 in the morning before I start drifting off to sleep. What's worse is that I have to get up early in the morning for school, esp for morning class. In the past week, I've been noticing something peculiar.
I can get up without my alarm going off. And when I wake, I can't get back to sleep. I woke at around 6.30 this morning, without an alarm, and it's Saturday. TT___TT; And last night I was just watching my dig clock changing numbers throughout half the time I was in bed.
I'm going psycho. I have a constant headache. It's so constant that sometimes I don't realise its a headache until it gets worse.
I think it's stress. What the hell am I stressing about? I don't even worry about study much T_T;
What surprises me the most is that I'm still in a relatively good mood. I haven't snapped at anyone, or chucked a fit or anything of the sort for ages. I think I'm usually in a pleasant mood (often high).
But bleh. Sleep is confusing. Hope you're all sleeping better than I am. =.=

"severe sleeping problems" -- Perhaps insomnia? :(
Listen to music. I do, and it works :)
Try reading a really boring book. It might work xD
I heard that watching your clock doesn't help. If can't sleep, which is often in the holidays (wake up ater than usual and do nothing all day so can only go to sleep later) I constantly check my clock as well.
And stress? dw, you know I know what to say; don't worry, you'll be great.

yeah i think you dad's advice might help. having a nice run around the block.
no wonder you're up on msn all night . having sleeping troubles
you know theres these things u can buy in the chemist that supposedly help you fall asleep easier. dunno if they help tho
i agree with john - listen to music.. relaxing ones..not upbeat stuff..and maybe it's coz ur used to sleeping so late??
In conjunction with Mysterious Stranger, read THE SILMARILLION, by J.R.R. Tolkein.
That is by far the MOST BORING BOOK in the world. I literally didn't get past the first paragraph, after re-investigating it with the Stranger in the library last week.
DO IT. It'll work like magic.
Learn to nap! It's a great and useful tool to really "maximise" your time.
I read it once in a "How to study" guide and, personally, it's helped me a lot. Now I can sleep anywhere, any time, even if I'm on a bus for only 5-10 minutes I can enter a micronap and feel sort of refreshed for a while.
Having said that taking naps > 30 mins (esp. in arvo) really screws up my sleeping pattern.
If you don't fall asleep easily, try just reading notes or doing something productive I'm sure you'll fall asleep of boredom :D
I used to have troubles sleeping occasionally. I don't actually remember how I fixed it...
Maybe try imagining something (sheep, a story, whatever) while in bed. Maybe something like:

i heard watching TV or computing and playing video games can have similar effects to drinking Caffeine before going to sleep.
try reading or doing some mindfulness meditation ;) haha. I usually just pray. steady your breathing by taking a few deep breaths and try to sleep again if you're still stuck.
and try to sleep earlier. it'll have pretty adverse effects on your body if you keep it up :(
hope this helps XD
Not sleeping is horrible. It's so frustrating when you know you need the sleep but you just can't get it ><
Music and reading doesn't seem to work for me, because I concentrate too much on them.
Sometimes I can sleep by forcing my mind to wander. But then that doesn't always work, because I end up thinking about how I should be asleep -_-"
Supposedly drinking milk is meant to help.. because it contains tryptophan which through some weird pathway, has something to do with serotonin and sleep.
Good luck =)
