Year 12 Formal @ Le Montage

Yes. Shaun sent me photos and his commentary. I'll just copy paste them here and maybe add my own opinions.

Oh before we start, I'd like to state, now, that I will stop hating on Le Montage because it is too late to do anything now. On the day of the formal, everyone will be excited NO MATTER where the location may be, so I'll live with it. :) And the day after the formal I'd say "wow that was fun" no matter where the location would have been so X)

Let the photospam begin :)

Deane's lobby:This one's a lil out of focus, but this will be the lobby for our actual function room. The function room is actually on a separate level...accessed by a nice staircase.....see "Stairway to fucntion room"

B: I like the shiny floors but I hope the lighting is good on the night. I know alot of people take photos at the entrance/ in the lobby. :D I know I would.

Le Montage Lobby:THis aint our lobby...but it just looks nice doenst it :p. Plus u can always add misleading comments haha.

B: No misleading comments from me. I love this place. I wish we could use this lobby. But its usually used for weddings aye? I like the bright lighting. Everything looks especially spectacular when lighting is well adjusted.

Le montage Lobby 2:See above

B: My, my. What tall grass.

Our entrance:Yes. We will actually have a designated entrance just FOR US. *happy dance*. We can do whatever we want...and other people wont be able to see us....or care :)
B: Okay. This is impressive. I like the idea of taking photos at the MAIN entrance too. (I will probably come 30 mins early to formal - unlike last time when Winnie appeared fashionably late, just to take photos at the entrance) I just hope it's not raining on the day. D: November should be fine. I like the mini pillars on the side, and the large large tiles on the rampish walkway.

FUnction room:THis is our function room...unadorned with anything. Looks nice already eh? THis setting is actually for 280 people...so we'll actually have a LOT more room than it is shown...not that it looks crowded.

B: IT DOES LOOK CROWDED! ;D But hopefully it isn't. Lol. Every single time I see round tables, I think chinese restaurants. Anyone else?

Function room 2:Lovely chandelier isnt it?

B: yeah yeah :P The chairs look gay & cheap. Thankgoodness we have chair covers.

Place setting:This is the basic layour for our tables. And yes. Candle and candle holder is included

B: Damnit. The abundance of glasses, potentially dangerous sharp goods and fire on the table kind of scare me a bit. Sorry in advance if I burn the whole building down/ impale some poor person sitting next to me.

Place setting 2:Shot from a cool angle

B: lol

Seat decor:We decided that we'll have white seat covers with a translucent gold belt. Oh. and we'll have like the same stype of stuff hanging from the roof to the walls. At and extra $3 bucks per person haha.

B: Aww white and gold? Satinish black material for table cloths + seat covers would be nice. With some kind of silver ornamental belt. But this is acceptable (I'm such a bitch... :D)

Stairway to function room:AW....we get our own lil entrance.

B: OH MY GOODNESS. Is it just me? Or does the carpet look really really really gross from this angle? I was staring at the carpet, and then I looked at my arm, and I saw weird patterns forming D: D: D: I hope its the really, puffy squishy ones because they're fun to walk on.

Table decor:And yes. We chose dark pink Rose petals as our complementary adornments.

B: Is that a napkin? Excuse me for my ignorance in fancy eating, but why the hell does the napkin have a belt as well? ==; everything seems to have belts. :(

THe View:And yes. THis is the view from mid way on the stairs. The actual view wont actually include the carpark. Oh. and dont forget to mention that we have our own BALCONY. yay.

B: I'm appalled and disappointed. THE CARPARK?! D: NOOOO The convention centre has such a cool balcony. You see lots of nice buildings and WATER and nice walkways.. not cars :P I don't even like palm trees :( (omg speed bumps. I HATE SPEEDBUMPS). Wait. IS THAT A PARKING METER? D:

That's the end of the photo show. Some comments made my Shaun:

So there's our lil trip in a nutshell. But here's a few more decisions we made:
Seating: Tables are made for 8-10 people.
Microphone and lecturn are provided for presentations
There is a request list for the DJ - further details pending
Professional photography is availble ON THE NIGHT for around 15 bucks per B5 photo (half of a4 ish)

B: If someone buys me a really, really, really nice camera (and I mean super nice *Dad, I hope you're reading this), I'll take REALLY really REALLY really REALLY nice photos on the night. I love taking photos.

Menu: (you'll like this part)

Entree' Arrancini Risotoo tower (risotto with diced tomatos, mushrooms and herbs housed in a light, deep friend casing) - doenst sound too good yet. But Jenns says that it is great. We didnt want to get a meat dish cos we wanted it for the mains and some people dont like salad apparently.

Mains: Yet to be decided. it will be decided this week as a grade

Dessert: creme brulee'. Need more explanation? I think not.

B: I've never had it before- believe it or not. (WOO RIPLEYS)

Oh and pricing of tickets. TIckets will be $110. Its final. Its like $1-2 more than the actual expenditure, but any excess we will donate it as part of the 2009 gift.

B: :( I thought the estimate was about 85 or something. Oh well. I wish more people chose Taronga. Taronga is way cool man. Way cool. Nicer views.

The baseline cost was $91 for Le Montage. Dockside was the only location that had a baseline price at $84.

Satin tables and seat covers weren't an option. But we did see the black seat covers and we had 20+ options for the sashes.. and spent quite a bit of time before deciding on the white and gold.

It's all Andrea approved - can't go wrong there =D

I love candles. It delights the inner pyromaniac in me. I always end up burning things at formal occasions. SLP and yr 10 formal were just a few. Candles+ Jason = prepare for something being half burnt.

White and Gold doesn't go well with dark suits >.<
I wonder if I can be bothered buying a white suit for formal. And the carpet looks fine, I think it's just you.

I don't like all the belts...
And I might steal my Sis's pro camera for formal... It's like worth 20k =)

@ Jason: beware. In my jealous rage, I will rip your camera apart

hmm...i just looked up on wiki that normal risotto has cheese in it?? EWWWWW!!! haha..i DO seem very selfish, coz it's probabli onli me who detests cheese >.<

and with all those forks and knives and wateva.. do we start from the outside and go in, or the other way around??

and the tables onli seat 8-10?? that's so little, tho =( is it coz bigger tables will make it too cramped??

I LIKE IT =D

but it's my first formal so i have nothing to compare it with.

yes, the carpet looks kinda gross. CARPARK ?! but i guess you won't see that in the dark.

THANKS SHAUN =)

Interessant. Not too bad. I'll have to get my film SLR shop checked and repaired for flash.
